Timing is everything
When i arrived in london, i met many athletes for different backgrounds the first thing impressed me was the lack of timing in Meals.In Italy we are well know for the bella vita etc...but we take very seriously food timing...For the prospectus of sport food timing is essential as different time of the day,is direct correlate to a different output from the hormonal system.In simple words the food and the time you choose to eat your food during the day,will change your mood,your energy level,and your sleep pattern.
when i generally talk with athletes is interesting that the question most frequently asked has to do with what to eat before competition.Althought this is important,it is off relatively importance when compared to how the athlete eats most of the time.IT TAKES CONSISTENT AND LONG TERM EFFORT IN CONDITIONING AND GOOD NUTRITION.There is no way that an athlete with iron deficiency can cure that overnite,consuming red meat the night before the event.It May take 6 month on A PROPER diet to get to a state of proper iron status.A failure to do this will lead to a poor competition outcome not matter what you do before the competition.
The factor that you eat enough food is not optimal if your timing is wrong,it is important to eat the food at the time the body can benefit the most from them.The timing of meal is also important for making certain that the muscles has enough energy and nutrient to grow and getting stronger during training session,rather than getting burned for energy because the athletes hash t eaten enough.
So you can understand,how shocked ia m when i see athletes still eating crap,and thinking they can be to the next olympic games,doesn’t gonna happen for sure...
